New STAR WARS ROGUE ONE Spinoff ANDOR To Be Scored by Nicholas Brittel
ANDOR is an upcoming American television series created by Tony Gilroy for Disney+. The new series follows the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor. “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” said Luna. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly (reprising her role of Mon Mothma from ROGUE ONE and other previous STAR WARS media) co-star in the series; Forest Whitaker is reported to be reprising his role as Saw Gerrera from ROGUE ONE.
Nicholas Brittel (left; IMDB photo) has been announced as the series’ composer. He has been most recently known for scoring Disney’s CRUELLA as well as the films DON’T LOOK UP, THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD, IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK, MOONLIGHT (the latter two were both nominated for best music Oscars). ANDOR will be his first score in the STAR WARS Universe.
The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire. ANDOR is scheduled to be released in mid-to-late 2022, and will consist of 12 episodes. A second season is in development.
