Mark Smythe Scores Shark Thriller Sequel THE REEF: STALKED

Cinema’s Next-in-Line Shark Terror Movie is THE REEF: STALKED, directed by horror maestro Andrew Traucki (the potent croc thriller BLACK WATER and its sequel BLACK WATER: ABYSS, THE JUNGLE), is the latest shark terror movie sequel to join the post-JAWS Carcharodon carcharias horror wave, and a sequel to the director’s 2010 shark thriller THE REEF. Starring Teressa Liane, Ann Truong, Kate Lister, Saskia Archer, and Tim Ross, the film follows four young women who seek solace after a family member’s murder through a Pacific island kayaking adventure. Hours into the trip the women are stalked by a shark and must band together, face their fears and save each other.

The film is scored by New Zealand-born, LA-based composer Mark Smythe. He is known for scoring 2021’s romcom LOVE YOU LIKE THAT and exorcism thriller THE POSSESSED. The latter was his fourth collaboration with horror master Chris Sun (BOAR, CHARLIES FARM, DADDY’S LITTLE GIRL). Mark has four Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominations (2013, 2015, 2017, 2021) and twice won Best Score at the Australian Screen Industry Network Awards for CHARLIE’S FARM (2015) and DADDY’S LITTLE GIRL (2012).
