Towa Tei Scores Powered-Villain Anime SUPER CROOKS, Now Showing on Netflix

Yesterday, Netflix premiered a new Japanese superhero anime streaming television series, SUPER CROOKS, based on the comic book series of the same name by writer Mark Millar and artist Leinil Francis Yu. The series was written by Dai Satō based on Millar’s story, and it was directed by Motonobu Hori in his solo directorial debut. The 13-episode series follows small-time crook Johnny Bolt as he recruits a team of eight super-villains to undertake a super-powered heist in Spain.

The series begins before the events of the comic book and then catches up to its timeline, so the series serve both as a prequel to the comics and then overlaps onto the comic storyline.

The series’ music is composed by Towa Tei, a Japanese artist, record producer, and DJ. He is also known for scoring the Japanese films BIG MAN JAPAN, Hitoshi Matsumoto’s sci-fi comedy about a man who periodically transforms into a 100-foot tall giant in order to defend Japan against similarly sized monsters.
