Miriam Mayer Scores UNCANNY Horror Film

Directed by actress/director Clara Gabrielle, who co-wrote the script with Marie Laurin, THE UNCANNY is a horror thriller about a therapist who, after a life altering trauma, seeks a fresh start in a new home. As she attempts to focus on her own fledgling art career, she soon realizes you can’t outrun memories. Throughout her struggles, a parade of unexpected visitors invade her universe, creating a world where reality becomes indistinguishable from make-believe.

The film has been scored by Miriam Mayer (composer for LIFE INTERRUPTED, TRIALS OF EMBER, BLOOD OF THE MUMMY, and numerous shorts; additional music composer/musician on more than a hundred film scores since 1994 on more than a hundred film scores since 1994). Mayer assisted 5-time Oscar-winner John Williams on many of his classic scores including, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE, and, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. As one of the industry’s most experienced and versatile women composers, it comes as little surprise that she scored the Cannes Film Festival-premiered short film, ESCAPE, and scored the nationally recognized PSA, #metoo. She scored the horror feature, BUGS: A TRILOGY (2018), which won Best Music at Chicago’s The Indie Horror Film Festival 2019 and the Women in Horror Film Festival, the drama short ESCALA was Jury Prize winner for best score at the 2019 Overcome Film Festival, her score for the comedy short  DAYBREAK (2020) was a nominee for best soundtrack for a short film at the Seattle Film Festival in 2021, and she shared the award for best narrative short at the Toronto International Women Film Festival for the short film THE LAST PICTURE.

The film is scheduled for release on July 30th 2022.
